LEFTOVER BUILDING MATERIALS
Keeping leftover building materials can save you so much money! Here is a bunch of examples from our home and little farm.
DUCK COOP
Leftover sheet metal remnants were used to make the nesting box cover and edging, while old garage doors were used to frame in the bottom of our duck coop- perfect for cold weather insulation.
TV BACKDROP
Old pallet boards were whitewashed and hung onto our wall to create a rustic farmhouse inspired TV backdrop.
GARDEN GATE
Our garden gate is made from rough cut, leftovers from a lumber mill and old deck screws we had previously removed and saved.
BARN BASE EDGING
Sheet metal from an old shed was used as a baseboard for our sheep barn and used in place of plywood to hold insulation. The insulation was also leftovers from two previous builds and given to us!
RUSTIC SHELF
I made this cute little rustic shelf from a scrap piece of wood from a lumber mill, a little bit of elbow grease for sanding, two corner angle brackets and a few screws. You know all those extra screws that come with all the items you have to put together yourself? Yep, that's what I used- make sure to hold onto those!
GARDEN TRELLIS
This planter box was made from boards stored in an old barn and salvaged decking screws. The trellis was made from fencing remnants, a scrap piece of 2"x4" ripped down the center, an extra hinge, and small fence staples.
